A technology risk briefing for new councils

Newly elected councils inherit technology obligations and risks, and most councillors haven't been briefed on them. In one 60-minute session, by video, Glen walks council and the CAO through what's coming and what to ask.

What it covers

  • Manitoba's Public Sector Artificial Intelligence and Cybersecurity Governance Act (Bill 51, passed June 2026, not yet in force): what it will mean for municipalities as the regulations are developed.

  • The Auditor General's recommendation that every municipality adopt baseline cyber controls.
  • 9-1-1 after the July 2026 outage: continuity plans, the NG9-1-1 agreement councils are being asked to sign, and the location-data obligations still to come.
  • Five technology questions every new council should ask in its first 100 days.

Who it's for: council and the CAO, as a council workshop or a strategic-planning session.

Format: 60 minutes, by video.

Cost: no charge for the first five councils this term.
